Is rock music like heavy metal?

Heavy metal is a subgenre of rock music that emerged in the late 1960s and early 1970s. It is characterized by a loud, distorted, and aggressive sound, often with lyrics about violence, rebellion, and anti-establishment themes. Some examples of heavy metal bands include Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, and Metallica.

While heavy metal is a subgenre of rock music, not all rock music is heavy metal. There are many other subgenres of rock music, such as alternative rock, classic rock, and pop rock, that have different sounds and themes.
