Contemporary Christian music (CCM) is a genre of Christian music that typically has a modern arrangement incorporating various elements of different secular genres into Christian lyrics. Unlike traditional hymnody-based church music, contemporary Christian music tends to take influences from genres of popular music including rock, folk, and pop—with occasional hip hop, funk, or electronic stylings. Christian rock is perhaps the most prevalent subgenre with artists like Skillet, RED, Toby Mac, Disciple, Thousand Foot Krutch, Demon Hunter, or Flyleaf considered part of Christian rock in addition to their respective subgenres in the rock realm.
