Reggae music often has a relaxed tempo and often begins with a chord progression based on the first, fourth, and fifth chords of the major scale. This progression may vary, but other variations are generally derived from it. The main characteristic feature of reggae drums is the heavy accentuation of the third snare beat in each measures (the "ska feel") and a laid-back feel, where some beats (usually second and fourth) are not played on one or both the bassline and hi-hat.
