Who organized Woodstock?

Woodstock was organized by four men: John Roberts, Joel Rosenman, Artie Kornfeld, and Michael Lang. They were all in their early twenties and had no experience in organizing large-scale events. They came up with the idea for Woodstock after attending the Miami Pop Festival in December 1968. They were inspired by the festival's success and decided to create a similar event in upstate New York. The four men spent the next several months planning Woodstock, which was held on August 15-18, 1969.
