When did country and western music start?

Country and Western Music emerged in the 18th century. Its origins can be traced to the folk music brought by early European settlers to North America, primarily from Ireland, Scotland, England, and Germany. These settlers brought their traditional ballads, fiddle tunes, and dance music with them, which laid the foundation for what would eventually become country music.
