The original "Street Survivors" album cover, released in October 1977, featured a photo of the band members standing in front of a burning airplane. The album was released just three days before the plane carrying Lynyrd Skynyrd crashed, killing Ronnie Van Zant, Steve Gaines, and Cassie Gaines. In the wake of the tragedy, the album cover was deemed too controversial and was pulled from circulation. However, five copies of the album with the original cover art were released before it was pulled. These five copies are now considered to be extremely valuable collector's items.
