What are the main things to keep in mind while singing pop?

### 1. Use your diaphragm. The diaphragm is a large muscle that separates the chest from the abdomen. It is responsible for controlling breathing and can be used to create a powerful, supported sound. To use your diaphragm when singing, breathe deeply into your belly, using just enough force to cause the muscles of your stomach or back to expand. This will help you to create a sound that is full, resonant, and controlled.

2. Relax your throat. When singing, it is important to relax your throat and all the other muscles you are not using. This will ensure that your vocal cords are free to vibrate and produce a clear sound. To relax your throat:

- Open your mouth wide.

- Drop your jaw and relax the muscles in the back of your throat.

- Lift the back of your soft palate (the fleshy tissue at the back of your mouth).

- Imagine you are yawning.

3. Articulate clearly. Enunciation is especially important in pop because so much of it focuses on the lyrics and the vocal delivery. Be clear and purposeful with your pronunciation, and do not let the music overtake the words.

4. Use vibrato. Vibrato is a slight, regular oscillation in pitch. It is used by most singers to add warmth, expressiveness, and depth to their voices. To use vibrato, simply relax the muscles in your throat and let your vocal cords vibrate freely.
