Tools:
- Phillips head screwdriver
- Flat head screwdriver
- 1/8" Allen key
- 1/4" drill bit
- Electric drill
Materials:
- Whammy bar
- Mounting screws (usually included with the whammy bar)
- Spring (usually included with the whammy bar)
- Washer (usually included with the whammy bar)
Instructions:
1. Locate the whammy bar hole on the body of your bass. It is typically located on the upper horn, near the neck.
2. If there is no whammy bar hole, you will need to drill one. Use the 1/4" drill bit to drill a hole at the desired location. Be careful not to drill too deep, as you may damage the body of the bass.
3. Insert the mounting screws into the whammy bar hole and tighten them with the Phillips head screwdriver.
4. Place the spring over the mounting screws and then place the washer over the spring.
5. Insert the whammy bar into the hole and tighten the 1/8" Allen key until it is snug.
6. Tune your bass and enjoy your new whammy bar!
Here are some additional tips for installing a whammy bar:
- Make sure that the whammy bar is properly seated in the hole before tightening the mounting screws.
- Do not over-tighten the mounting screws, as this could damage the body of the bass.
- If you are unsure about how to install a whammy bar, consult with a qualified guitar technician.
