Not e string but what does mean in bass tab?

The symbol "b" in bass tab means "beat". It is used to indicate the timing of notes and rests in a Tablature. For example, a note with a "b" next to it should be played on the count of 1, while a note with two "b"s should be played on the count of 1 and 2.
