How do hertz relate to music?

In music, hertz (Hz) measures the frequency of sound waves—how many sound waves pass a given point in one second. Humans interpret sounds within a specific frequency range as pitches. Each note on the musical scale has a designated frequency. For example, middle C is 261.626 Hz. In general, higher frequencies sound higher in pitch, while lower frequencies sound lower. However, sound perception can also depend on other factors such as sound level, timbre, and the individual characteristics of the listener. Hertz also play a crucial role in audio technologies, as many devices utilize specific frequency ranges for different applications, including speech, music reproduction, and noise cancellation.
