How to Become a Licensed Ticket Broker

Many business and individuals are independent ticket brokers, but a licensed ticket broker holds a unique distinction that carries with it more trust and respect. The licensing process can be worth it if you plan to buy and sell tickets on a regular basis.

Instructions

    • 1

The process of licensing requires that you already have a business entity formed (if you already have a business entity, skip to step three of this section). To begin the business entity documentation process, you may want to consult with an attorney who can assist you in selecting the appropriate entity structure.
If you are confident, you can go to your state's Secretary of State website and register your business on your own.

    • 2

Set up your business's bank accounts. You will need a bank account that is separate from your personal for tax purposes.

    • 3

Go to the website for the National Association of Ticket Brokers and read through the business ethics and other guidelines.

    • 4

Download and fill out the NATB application for ticket broker licensing. You will need references and sponsorship from two current NATB members in good standing.

    • 5

Licensing through NATB requires that you pay a fee ranging from $975 to $1,625. The fee covers all licensing, but does not apply towards any purchases of tickets.
