Latin American Music Festivals

Latin American music is as diverse as the countries from which it is born. From Cumbia and Bachata, to Salsa and traditional folk music, Latin American music festivals showcase a variety of talent. Some of the largest Latin American music festivals are hosted in Latin America, but the United States hosts some of the hottest.
  1. ROCK al PARQUE (Bogota, Colombia)

    • Since 1995 Bogota has been home to one of the largest rock music fests in Latin America. Sponsored by Colombia's secretary of culture, Rock al Parque is held in the Simon Bolivar Park over the course of a weekend. Musical talents from all over the world come together to perform at this festival. The event also features panel discussions, workshops and debates. Manu Chao, Cafe Tacuba, Molotov and Amigos Invisibles have performed here. Entrance is free.

    Latin American Music Festival (Caracas, Venezuela)

    • Since 1990 Caracas has hosted this festival, inviting composers of symphony orchestras and electro acoustic music. It is held for ten days in Caracas, Venezuela and welcomes youth orchestras as well as international acts.

    Pachanga Latino Music Festival (Austin, TX)

    • This one-day music festival is one of many fests hosted in Austin, TX. Since 2008, musical acts performing everything from alternative to traditional have gathered here from all over the world. Mexican Institute of Sound, Brownout! and David Garza are some talents that have played in the past. In May 2010 cost of admission was $21.

    International Festival of Spanish and Latin American Music (Lawrence, KS)

    • For two weeks in June and July, Lawrence, Kansas showcases guitarists, pianists, soprano, baritone and tenor talent. Since 2009 this festival has been presented by the director Genaro Méndez Jr and is held in various halls across the city.
