Jazz Music Clubs in Alexandria, VA

Alexandria, Virginia is about six miles south of downtown Washington, D.C. and offers a considerable amount of nightlife. Along with some excellent restaurants and other forms of entertainment, the jazz clubs in Alexandria draw some big name acts and, depending on the night of the week, you might catch one. Most of the clubs offer more than just jazz performances, so it's always best to call ahead and see who's playing.
  1. The Carlyle Club

    • The Carlyle Club is open Friday and Saturday from 6 p.m. until midnight. It has live performances on the weekends and most shows start at 8 p.m. It has a full menu and is available for private events. There is parking available below the club.

    219 Restaurant

    • The Basin Street Lounge is part of the 219 Restaurant building and has live jazz performances every Friday and Saturday starting at 9 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday the music starts at 8 p.m. It offers a full bar and a menu of French creole and Cajun food.

    The Birchmere Music Hall

    • This legendary music hall draws national headlining acts. It offers jazz and other performances as well. Doors open at 5 p.m., with most performances starting at 7:30 p.m. You can buy tickets in advance through Ticketmaster, but can only buy tickets the day of the show at the music hall box office. It has a moderately priced menu and parking.

    Laporta's Restaurant

    • Laporta's offers live jazz music seven nights a week. It has an extensive wine list and a full menu. It is open until 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and until 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday. It has free parking nightly and on weekends. It is available for private events and catering.
