Ricky was raised in the humble neighborhood of Kawempe in Kampala, Uganda. His passion for music was sparked from a young age when he discovered his love for mixing sounds. Although he did not have access to professional equipment, Ricky's drive and determination led him to create his own makeshift setup using affordable components.
Rise to Fame:
Through persistent practice, Ricky honed his skills and gradually began performing at local clubs and events around Kampala. His ability to blend different genres, blending African beats with electronic sounds, set him apart and drew the attention of music lovers and industry players.
Radio Career:
Ricky gained prominence when he joined Uganda's leading radio station, Galaxy FM, in 2008. He hosted the popular program called "Rush Hour," which became a platform for him to showcase his talent and connect with a broader audience.
DJ Competitions and Achievements:
Ricky has consistently proven his talent by winning various local and international DJ competitions. In 2015, he won the East Africa Club DJ Competition, which propelled him to the continental stage. He also gained recognition as one of the top 100 DJs in Africa according to DJ Mag Africa in 2020.
Production Work:
Aside from his impressive DJing skills, RickyStar has also established himself as a talented audio producer. He runs a well-equipped recording studio where he collaborates with local and international artists from across genres. His production credits include works for musicians such as Beenie Gunter, Sheebah Karungi, Jose Chameleone, and many more.
Tours and International Performances:
Ricky's popularity has taken him beyond the borders of Uganda. He has performed at prestigious events and clubs in countries like Kenya, Tanzania, Nigeria, South Africa, and even on the international stage in the United Arab Emirates and Europe.

RickyStar's influence and achievements have made him a sought-after brand ambassador for various companies. He has partnered with big names such as Johnnie Walker, Pepsi, Smirnoff, and several others. His collaborations with brands leverage his strong personal brand and connection with the youth.
Giving Back:
Ricky, being aware of the challenges aspiring artists face, established the RickyStar Music Foundation in 2019. This non-profit organization aims to nurture young talent and provide them with resources, mentorship, and opportunities to thrive in the music industry.
