Tools Needed:
- Phillips Head Screwdriver
- Flathead Screwdriver
- Socket Set
- Wrench
1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal. This will prevent any electrical shock while you're working on the fan.
2. Remove the plastic shroud covering the fan. There are several screws that hold it in place. You can use the flathead screwdriver to pry it open and release the tabs.
3. Disconnect the electrical connector from the fan motor.
4. Remove the bolts that hold the fan motor in place. There are two bolts at the top and two at the bottom of the motor.
5. Pull the fan motor out of the housing.
6. To install the new fan motor, reverse the steps above. Make sure that the fan motor is securely fastened in place before you reconnect the electrical connector and the battery terminal.
_Here are some additional tips:_
- If the fan motor is seized, you may need to use a penetrating oil to loosen it up.
- Be careful not to damage the fan blades when you're removing and installing it.
- Make sure that the new fan motor is the same size and type as the old one.
By following these steps, you can safely remove and replace the electric cooling fan on your 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo.
