Mix it up. While iTunes allows you to import an entire CD into iTunes with the "Import CD" command, don't be afraid to be choosy by picking individual songs.
Insert a CD into the CD-ROM of your computer. If you just want to import an individual song or two, open iTunes first so that you can drag and drop the song into your iTunes library.
Create a folder on your desktop if you prefer to load multiple songs from multiple CDs. After loading a CD into your drive, drag the songs you want to the folder. After you're finished loading songs into the folder, go to iTunes, and click on "Add Folder to Library" under the File menu.
Choose different audio formats for your songs if you want. The default for CD songs is AAC file format, but you can also convert songs to MP3s or Apple Lossless format. Set the format from "Preferences" under the Edit menu.
Make different playlists for your songs. Perhaps you want an exercise playlist, a road trip playlist and a TGIF playlist. Once you've created a playlist, insert a CD and drag a song to that playlist.
Download a program like Anapod that allows you to use Windows Explorer folders to drag and drop favorite tunes into your iTunes library. Your iPod appears as a device under "My Computer."
