How to Download Country Songs

Gone are the days where your shelves were full of CDs, tapes and records. Now you can have your complete music library on your computer, iPod or MP3 player. All genres of music can be found online, especially country music. Even little known country artists and obscure country songs are easy to find, listen to and download---legally.

Determine the kind of music file you need to download. If you are listening from your computer and not using a portable music player, then MP3 or WMA files will work well. If you are using an iPod (or any Apple portable device), you will need to download the file in an AAC format. Most other portable devices work with the WMA format, and all work with the MP3 format.

Find a website to download from. You have many options here. There are online music stores (such as iTunes and AOL music), music subscription services (such as Napster and eMusic), free music websites and file-trading networks.

Online music stores have wonderful selections, are easy to use and offer you the option of either buying a single song (ranging from $0.69 to $1.29 on iTunes) or an entire album. These stores also allow you to listen to a selection of the song before downloading it.

Music subscription services allow you to download unlimited amounts of music and videos for a monthly fee. This music is available for you to listen to online or to download to your computer anytime you want, as long as you continue to be a subscriber. Once you cancel your subscription, the music is no longer available to you.

Free music websites are a good place to find obscure and new artists. You may not find the most popular and current songs, but downloading from these websites is legal and free.

File trading networks are made up of people who have uploaded songs from their private collection and have made them available for download. These songs may not have been uploaded with the artist's permission and therefore may be illegal. Downloading from these sites is risky because the music files may have viruses.
