Download and install the Mixcraft 2.0 trial program onto your Windows PC (see Resources). You will need to have some type of sound card or USB device for this program to function ideally.
Download the Extra Boy Vocal Removal VST plug-in (see Resources). Install the Extra Boy plug-in on Mixcraft 2.0. Restart Mixcraft in order for the plug-in to properly function.
Pick out the track you would like to turn into a karaoke song. When making your selection, keep in mind that some songs work better than others in this particular method. Experiment with different songs to find out what sounds best for your purposes. The removal process typically works better on simple songs where vocals are clearly distinguishable from music.
Load the song of your choice into the Mixcraft interface. On Track 1, select the FX button. A dialog box will appear with effects options to choose from. Choose "Select New Effect To Add'" and click on the Extra Boy plugin to load. Choose "Full Spectrum (HR)" option from the preset menu. This option is a high-resolution preset that results in a clearer track.
Press play in Mixcraft to hear the final result. If you are pleased with the result, use the file render option to convert the file to MP3 or WAV and then burn to a blank CD.
Be patient and keep experimenting with different songs and effects if you are unhappy with the finished product. Other filters and plug-ins are available for download that are compatible with Mixcraft, and these may improve the quality if used properly.
