How to Copy Music From Your MP3 Into a Normal CD

MP3 is a versatile compressed digital media format that allows you to play music and other audio in a wide array of devices. While you may already enjoy the convenience of MP3 music on your computer and personal audio player, you may want to store that music on a normal CD for playback and transport purposes. Regardless of whether you want to make an audio or data CD, you can copy MP3 music onto a normal CD using the Windows Media Player or iTunes already installed on your computer.

  • Blank CD-R
  • Computer with CD writer drive
  • Windows Media Player or iTunes

Instructions

  1. Windows Media Player

      Create a playlist of MP3 music you wish to copy onto the normal CD-R if you have not already created one. Drag and drop your desired MP3 music files from the "Library" tab onto the "List" tab.

      Click "Burn List" so that you may order the MP3 music before copying it onto your CD. From here you may drag and drop the MP3 music files into a desired playback order.

      Insert the blank CD-R into your computer's CD writer drive.

      Select "Audio CD" or "Data CD" from the "Start Burn" drop-down menu. Choose "Audio CD" if your want to burn a music disc for playback in standard audio CD players. Choose "Data CD" if you want to burn an MP3 CD for storage and possible playback on MP3 CD music players.

      Click "Start Burn" to begin copying the MP3 music to your CD-R.

    iTunes

      Push the "+" button in the bottom left corner of your iTunes player to create a new playlist containing the MP3 music you intend to copy onto the normal CD-R.

      Drag and drop the desired MP3 music from the iTunes Library viewer onto the newly created playlist icon.

      Click the newly created playlist icon and drag and drop the MP3 music files up and down in the playlist to reorder them as desired.

      Click the "Burn CD" button at the bottom of the iTunes player window.

      Select "Audio CD" or "Data CD" from the ensuing burn dialog. Choose "Audio CD" if your want to burn a music disc for playback in standard audio CD players. Choose "Data CD" if you want to burn an MP3 CD for storage and possible playback on MP3 CD music players.

      Click "OK" to begin copying the MP3 music onto the CD-R.
