Visit MP3Cut.net and click the "Upload MP3" button. Select the big MP3 file from the computer's hard drive to upload the big MP3 file.
Click the "Play" button to play back the MP3 file. Use the sliders to mark the beginning and ending of the first smaller file.
Click the "Split and Download" button to split the MP3 file and download it.
Download and install Audacity and the latest LAME MP3 encoder. Extract the file lame_enc.dll from the LAME zip file and save it on the desktop.
Run Audacity and click "File" and then "Open" and select the big MP3 file. Highlight the selection tool in the upper right-hand corner of Audacity if it is not already (the selection tool looks like an "I").
Click and drag to select a portion of the MP3 file to export as its own file. With an area selected, click "Edit" and then "Copy."
Click "File" and then "New." Click "Edit" and then "Paste" to paste the selection to the new window.
Click "File" and then "Export as MP3" to export the section as its own MP3 file. Audacity will ask you to locate the LAME file on the desktop. Repeat these steps to export multiple sections of the large MP3 file.
Download and install MP3DirectCut. Run the program and click "File" and then "Open" and select the big MP3 file.
Click the "Set Begin" and "Set End" buttons to mark the beginning and ending of the first MP3 clip.
Click "File" and "Save Selection" to save the selection as its own MP3 file.
