How to Split a Remix of a Song Into Two Songs

Splitting the remix of a song, or any song, involves using audio editing software to select where in the song you would like the split to begin, removing that part of the song from the original audio track and placing it into a new audio file. There are a variety of different audio editing solutions available. Some are free and some require a purchase, but splitting audio files is a basic task for any audio editor, so it does not matter which one you choose for this purpose.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the audio file of the remixed song you would like to split into two, using an audio editor of your choice.

    • 2

Listen to the song carefully and click the "Pause" button at the exact point you would like the first song to end.

    • 3

Move the mouse cursor to the exact point in which you paused the song. Click and drag your mouse from that point onwards to the end of the song. This will highlight the remainder of the track, which will also become the second song.

    • 4

Click the "Edit" menu and choose "Cut." This will cut out the highlighted portion and leave only what will be your first song.

    • 5

Click the "File" menu and select "Save As." Give the file whatever name and file type you want. You have just created the first of your two-song split.

    • 6

Click the "File" menu and choose "New," then click "Edit" and select "Paste." This inserts the contents of the second song that you cut out of the original track in Step 4.

    • 7

Click "File" and select "Save As" once again. Give the file whatever name and file type you would like.

You have successfully split the remixed song into two separate audio files.
