How to Convert Lossless Audio Codecs to MP3

Lossless audio can sound clearer because it is not compressed. But that lack of compression comes at a price; many times lossless audio files are much larger than their lossy (or compressed) counterparts. The most well-known lossless codec is FLAC, but other formats include Apple Lossless (a variation of the M4A format), WMA lossless (a variation of the WMA format), WavPack and Monkey's audio (.ape). If you want to convert any of these formats to MP3, various programs allow you to do that.
