How to Change AIFF to WAV

Editing music in AIFF and WAV formats can produce an ideal, relatively untouched sound quality for your audio projects. While both WAV and AIFF file formats support uncompressed audio, they are not always compatible with the same software. You can change an AIFF file to WAV if your audio utility requires the latter as a compatible format. Use an AIFF and WAV-compatible digital audio conversion utility to facilitate the change.

Instructions

    • 1

Download and install an AIFF and WAV-compatible digital audio conversion utility if you have not already done so. Consider Switch, Hoo Technologies AIFF MP3 Converter or Xilisoft Video Converter if you do not have such a utility in mind. While Switch is a freeware alternative, Hoo Technologies AIFF MP3 Converter and Xilisoft Video Converter's compatibility with more file formats may be of use to you.

    • 2

Launch your digital audio conversion utility.

    • 3

Load your AIFF file into the digital audio conversion utility. Select "Add," "Open," "Import" or "New File" from the digital audio conversion utility's "File" menu tab, as these vary by program. Alternatively, you may click a similarly named button on the utility, if applicable. Choose the AIFF file from the ensuing browser.

    • 4

Select "WAV" as the destination file format from the digital audio conversion utility's "File Type" drop-down menu.

Click the "Convert" or "Save" button on the digital audio conversion utility to complete the AIFF file's change to WAV.
