Log in to your computer with an administrator account and install the "ez Vinyl Converter" software that is included with your Ion turntable package. If you cannot find the software CD, you can download the latest version from Ion's website for free.
Connect the turntable to your computer's USB jack with the supplied cable. Double-click on the "ez Vinyl Converter" to launch the program. Click the green "Next" button once the software detects your turntable.
Choose an output destination for the MP3 recording and select a bit rate for your output files. A higher bit rate means better quality, but a larger file size. Note that you can always decrease the recording quality later, but you can never increase it without rerecording your vinyl.
Put a vinyl record on your USB turntable, press the "Play" button on the turntable and set the needle in place just as you would on a normal record player. Choose the turntable's 33 1/3 or 45 RPM setting to match the record. Click on the "Start New Track" button in "ez Vinyl Converter" to begin recording.
Click the "Start New Track" button again after the first track finishes playing on the vinyl. If you do not split the track, then your record will be imported as one long MP3 file. When the album side is finished playing, click the green "Next" button in the bottom right corner of "ez Vinyl Converter."
Open your newly created MP3 files and skip through them to be sure they were imported correctly.
