How to Reduce the Length of a Song in Nero

When you're recording a song on your computer, it's easy to continue recording accidentally after you finish playing. This causes empty space or background noise to appear at the end of the recorded audio file. To remove this unwanted audio and reduce the length of the song, you can use Nero WaveEditor, which is part of the Nero Multimedia Suite. Nero WaveEditor supports songs that are recorded in many different formats, including MP3, WAV, AIFF and WMA.

Instructions

    • 1

Click the "Start" menu button, and type "Nero WaveEditor" into the search box. Click the icon for Nero WaveEditor.

    • 2

Click the folder icon in the top left corner. Double-click on the song file.

    • 3

Click on and drag the waveform in Nero WaveEditor to select the part of the song that you want to remove. Click "Edit," then "Delete" to reduce the length of the song.

    • 4

Click "File," then "Save As." Type in a name for the reduced song into the "File Name" field. Click the "Save As Type" drop-down menu, and select a format for the song. Click "Save."
