Connect your Kaoss Pad to your computer using a USB cable.
Plug in the Kaoss Pad and turn it on by pressing in the black button at the rear of the device. It takes approximately 30 seconds to boot up.
Press the "Shift" button on the Kaoss Pad and then press the number "8," which is conveniently located directly below the "Shift" button. This sets the Kaoss Pad to "External Control" mode, meaning its sampling and audio effects functions are momentarily disabled, and it can now be used as a touchpad.
Open the Korg Editor Software by clicking on its link. A "KP3 Editor" window appears.
Click on the "Ext. Control & Global" tab in the "KP3 Editor" window. This opens a new page that displays the various MIDI controls you can send using your KP3. The touch pad sends MIDI signals over the USB cable so your computer can read where your fingers are on the pad. You can use this to control any software application that recognizes MIDI signals. For example, you can use it in Ableton Live as a MIDI control touch pad. This allows you to use the touch pad to affect audio effects native to the Ableton Live software.
