Berry Gordy Jr. (born November 28, 1929) is an American record producer, songwriter, and founder of the Motown Records record label and its subsidiaries. He launched the careers of many successful Motown acts, including Diana Ross & the Supremes, Smokey Robinson & the Miracles, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, and the Temptations. He also wrote and produced several hit songs, including "Money (That's What I Want)", "I Want You Back", and "Dancing in the Street".
