Guilds
• Guilds were formed by artisans, including artists, to
• Ensure quality of work;
• Set prices;
• Provide legal protection;
• Establish educational standards; and
• Provide patronage.
Art Markets
• Artists set up studio/shops where finished work was for sale;
• Artists displayed work at fairs and/or rented a space for a short period of time; and
• Dealers bought and sold artwork.
