How to Pitch Your Song to Song Publishers at a Pitch to Publisher Night at NSAI

Pitch to Publisher Night is a regular event hosted by the Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI). It gives professional songwriters the chance to get feedback from established music publishers. Publishers may choose songs that they are interested in publishing after hearing the song pitches. Songwriters must be NSAI members and come prepared for the event with required materials before given a chance to perform a song. Due to time restrictions, songwriters just perform a verse and chorus while the publishers can read the song lyrics from typed lyric sheets.

Find out when the next event is scheduled to take place and plan to arrive early, before 6:30 p.m. Songwriters who arrive late will have their submissions placed in a late basket.

    • 3

Record your song on a CD; on it, write your contact information and the name of the song you are pitching. The publishers can use this information to contact you if they are interested in your song.

    • 4

Prepare two copies of a typed lyric sheet. Each should have your contact information and the title of your pitched song.

Use a rubber band to secure your membership card and song lyrics to the CD. Submissions without all required materials will not be reviewed.
