Pursue a financial backer, or apply for a loan. Financial assistance may be beneficial as you pay for things like studio time, packaging, promotion and distribution.
Design the cover art yourself with a graphics program, or ask an artistic friend to help. Burn copies of the CD, and print the covers yourself. Purchase CD cases in bulk or print sleeves. For a more professional package, contact a recording studio that offers these services.
Tour to promote your album, and sell CDs at your shows. Interact with the crowd, and give out your band's website or social networking page so new fans can find your music.
Get your music into stores. Offer your CD to record stores on spec to show that it will sell. If the CD sells successfully, the store owner will likely request more copies. Since distributors are less likely to back an unknown artist, join or form an organization that distributes indie music to stores.
Place your music on an online music site like iTunes or CD Baby. There are fewer costs for packaging, although you won't be able to sell your digital album for as much as a physical CD.
