How to Play Linkin Park on the Piano

Linkin Park is an American rock band from California. Classified as a "Nu-Metal" band, Linkin Park has a musical style based on many genres of music. This band has been influenced heavily by alternative rock, hip-hop and electronica. Many of their songs include the presence of synthesizers and an electric keyboard. A lot of Linkin Park's most recognizable musical riffs are from the keyboard, and are surprisingly easy to play.

Review how the piano is set up so that you may have a reference point for where all the notes on the piano are. The piano is set up in groups of seven white keys which are known as an octave. The musical notes represented by these keys are C, D, E, F, G, A and B. The note to the right of the B would be another C note, which will begin the next octave. Find the middle key--this is "Middle C," which starts the fourth octave. In addition, within each group of seven white keys there are five black keys. These keys are C sharp, D sharp, F sharp, G sharp and A sharp. Play through each key on the keyboard and review what the note is and what octave it is in so you can better understand the steps that follow.

Learn how to read piano tabs in order to understand how the music is written. A piano tab is a shortcut to reading and writing piano music. With a piano tab, you do not need an extensive background in piano to be able to play the instrument. A tab will simply show which note to play and in what octave that note is located. Sharp notes will be written as a capital letter. For example; 4------b----a----f---G-- would mean that you are to play the b-note, a-note, f-note, then the g-sharp note, all in the fourth octave on the piano.
