How to Find a Singer of a Song

You were surfing through the radio dial and you finally landed on a great song. Trouble is, you only got to enjoy the last half of it. Perhaps you thought, “Who sang that song? I've got to find the song's artist.” If you were lucky, the radio station DJ mentioned the name of the song and its performer. But, more than likely, your wonderful song was followed immediately by another song—not the desired information about the title and artist. Fortunately, there are a few ways to find the singer of a song.

Instructions

  1. Steps to Find a Song's Artist

    • 1

Immediately call information (411) and get the number for the radio station. Call the radio station and ask for the title and artist of the last song played on the radio. If the radio station doesn't have the information available over the phone, turn to the Internet. Find the radio station's website and look for its playlist.

    • 2

Take note of the song's lyrics. If necessary, write down any unique phrases that caught your attention. These phrases will help narrow your search for the song's title and artist.

    • 3

Type the lyric phrase into the search bar of your favorite search engine. The song title and a link to music videos or more information about the singer will likely appear on the list of results.

    • 4

Ask your friends about the song. Say, “Have you heard the song that goes [lyrics phrase]?” Ask them if they know the singer of the song.

    • 5

Visit your local music shop or CD store and ask the clerk. Say, “I'm looking for an album with the song that goes [lyric phrase]. Do you know the artist?” Music store clerks are often very in tune with popular and new songs and may be able to help you locate the singer of the song.
