How did tears for fears become a band?

The band Tears for Fears formed in Bath, Somerset, England, in 1981. The group was founded by Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith, who had been school friends since the age of 13. Orzabal and Smith began playing music together in 1977, and they released their first single, "Suffer the Children," in 1981. The song was a hit in the UK, and it helped the band secure a record deal with Phonogram Records.

Tears for Fears' debut album, "The Hurting," was released in 1983. The album was a commercial success, and it spawned several hit singles, including "Mad World" and "Change." The band's second album, "Songs from the Big Chair," was released in 1985. The album was an even greater commercial success than its predecessor, and it produced several hit singles, including "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" and "Head Over Heels."

Tears for Fears released two more albums, "The Seeds of Love" (1989) and "Elemental" (1993), before disbanding in 1993. Orzabal and Smith reunited in 2004, and they released their comeback album, "Everybody Loves a Happy Ending," in 2004. The band has continued to tour and perform together since then.
