What is a ceili band?

A *ceili band* is a kind of musical group usually consisting of a fiddle, flute, and button accordion, along with other supporting instruments such as a keyboard, or a drum kit. They may also include other traditional Irish instruments like a bodhrán or uilleann pipes, or feature singing and dancing. Typically, ceili bands play folk music originating in Ireland, Scotland and the British Isles for *ceilidhs*, which are Scottish and Irish social gatherings which feature traditional music and dancing.
