How did velvet revolver the band get its name?

Velvet Revolver's name was derived from two sources. The first came from the group's former lead singer, Scott Weiland, who cited his fondness for the smooth fabric. The second came from guitarist Slash, whose recollection was that the name came from a phrase "black velour revolver."
