Brainstorm images that relate to your band's image and market with your bandmates. For example, if your band is named "The Bears," consider incorporating a bear into your logo. If your market is adult-oriented, you might want to stay away from childish images and over-the-top fonts.
Open a graphic design program like Adobe Photoshop or Corel Draw. If you don't own one of these programs, open a paint program or sketch your logo out on a piece of paper.
Choose a font style that fits the image and appeal of the band and type in your band's name. For example, if your band plays heavy metal, consider using a jagged, menacing font. Allow your font to be representative of your image without becoming so wild that it's unreadable---you want potential fans to know your band's name.
Incorporate other images that fit the brand of your band, unless the font design you chose stands on its own. Use drawing tools within the program to create images or use stock images from sites like stock.xchng or iStockphoto. For example, the hard-rock band Guns n' Roses incorporated actual images of roses and guns into its logo. You don't need to be as literal, but be creative while maintaining the integrity of your band's image.
Color your band logo appropriately. You can use a simple black-and-white font for a crisper, conservative approach, or use a full color font to reflect the sound of a more energetic band.
Save your band logo file. Share it with your bandmates and make changes as needed.
