How to Make Catchy Raps

Creating catchy raps can be a confusing task if you don't know the basics. Rap, which is a form of spoken word, can be composed into songs by following the proper steps. Rap songs, which typically rhyme with a word at the end of every sentence, are created by verses and choruses. While verses usually consist of 16 bars (lines) and choruses consists of eight, you have the option of creating as many or as few bars as you choose.

Instructions

    • 1

Think of a catchy phrase or term that you want to make into a song. Write down the list of ideas and narrow it down to one. Say the phrase over and over, and detect the word at the end of each sentence. If the ending word is "Fly," think of a word that rhymes with it.

    • 2

Use the rhyming word and put it into a sentence, making sure the rhyming word is at the end of the sentence. Say the first phrase and say the new phrase right after it. Both lines should rhyme with each other.

    • 3

Compose a list of 16 lines by breaking them into couplets. Skip a space, if writing on paper or computer, after every two lines.

    • 4

Compose the chorus of the song by writing four lines. Each two lines should rhyme with each other. Say the first four lines of the chorus, and then repeat them again.

    • 5

Write another verse with 16 lines by follow the directions in Steps 1 and 2. Say the chorus twice after the verse.
