How to Make Drum Glides

Make drum glides or slides when you want to perform faster beats, such as triplets, on a bass drum. The technique gives you more control over your bass drum pedal and the sound.

Instructions

    • 1

Place your foot on your bass drum pedal. Position the front part of your foot about half way down the drum pedal while lifting your heel.

    • 2

Slide the front part of your foot up the pedal from the middle toward the drum as you maneuver your foot forward with your heel and a twisting motion. Move toward the front of the pedal for a single glide.

    • 3

Strike the drum once with your foot in the middle of the pedal before sliding your foot forward. Strike the drum for a second time after you slide your foot to the front of the pedal.

    • 4

Use the same technique with two feet to perform triplets and other fast beats.
