The story begins two and a half years after Naruto Uzumaki leaves his village to hone his ninja skills. When he returns home, he finds his friends have been promoted in his absence. Naruto struggles to catch up, knowing that the rogues of the Akatsuki Organization are still a threat.
Naruto Shippuden's predecessor, the Naruto series, is based off of young Naruto's earlier days. The anime chronicles the exploits of Naruto Uzumaki, a young man empowered with the spirit of the Nine-Tailed Fox, who is determined to be the next leader of Hidden Leaf Village, called The Hokage.
