Identify the specific film you want to find. Go to the Internet Movie Database (imdb.com) and search for the name of the film. Even if you don't know the full name, IMDb can provide you with listings that are closely related to your search terms. You can also search by actor, actress, director and year.

Go to Amazon.com's Made-for-TV movie section to search for the film to buy either new or used. Amazon also offers some films through instant streaming, so check your options for purchase.

    • 3

Check Netflix (netflix.com) for the film's availability both through mailed DVD or instant streaming. Note that with this service, you must sign up for a monthly fee of around $13 dollars.

Go to your local pawn shops, garage sales and thrift stores and look through VHS and DVD collections. Often, these types of stores carry older and hard-to-find titles that are not yet available for sale on DVD.

Visit rare film websites, such as Bodawg (bodawg.com) and 1st Video (stores.ebay.com/1stVideo-com) and search for your film. Be aware that some rare films might be very pricey or might be available only in an older viewing format, such as VHS.
