How to Identify Nickelodeon's New Logo Type

Nickelodeon, Nick at Nite, Nicktoons, Nick Jr. and Teen Nick are all part of the Nickelodeon family network. To streamline branding across the board, the former logo that has represented Nickelodeon since 1984 was replaced on September 28, 2009. Cyma Zarghami, president of Nick and MTVN Kids and Family Group, told "Variety," an entertainment news source, "We wanted to clean (the logo) up and allow Nick to be the stamp of all these channels."

Instructions

    • 1

Compare the background. The old Nickelodeon logo included an orange splat background, which was completely removed from the new logo.

    • 2

Review the colors. The old Nickelodeon used white lettering for text, but the new logo uses bright, orange letters.

    • 3

Inspect the text case. The old Nickelodeon logo used uppercase throughout, but new logo only uses only lowercase letters.

    • 4

Study the fonts. A Balloon type font was used for the old logo, but the new logo uses a custom made font. In addition, the dot in the letter "i" connects to the bottom of the letter.

    • 5

Analyze the overall design. The old logo was a combination of text and graphics, whereas the new logo is type only.
