Watch your favorite television episodes at the various television network websites. While not all networks air their shows online, many of the major networks, like ABC and the CW, do.
Sign up for one of Netflix's monthly subscription plans. One plan allows users unlimited streaming of the television shows and movies available in their streaming library. The other plan allows users to rent DVDs from their vast library. The third plan allows both streaming and DVD rentals.
Sign up for Hulu. Hulu is similar to Netflix, except the site offers no DVD rental plan. Users can watch TV shows and movies directly on their computer free of charge. The Hulu Plus plan offers a subscription plan to watch shows and movies on devices other than your computer.
Hook up an antenna to your TV. Because of the switch to digital TV in 2009, many people can get at least a few channels with just an antenna. The number of channels available to you depends on the type of TV you have.
Rent movies and television shows via services like Blockbuster On Demand, Amazon Instant Video or the iTunes store. These services are useful if you want to watch more recent movies than are available at Netflix or Hulu.
Watch live sports free of charge via ESPN3, depending on which Internet provider you have. MLBtv offers an $80 per year membership to watch baseball.
Build up your collection of movies and TV shows for things you can't watch any other way. Check out used stores in your area, or buy used from Amazon and other online stores to help save money.
