How does Oedipus react to the news of death in

When Oedipus learns of the prophecy that he will kill his father and marry his mother, he reacts with horror and determination to avoid such a fate. In an attempt to escape his prophesied destiny, Oedipus leaves his home city of Corinth and begins wandering. During his travels, he engages in a violent altercation at crossroads and unknowingly kills his birth father, King Laius of Thebes. Unbeknownst to Oedipus, he then fulfils the other part of the prophecy by unknowingly marrying his mother, Queen Jocasta of Thebes.

Years later, a plague befalls Thebes, prompting its inhabitants to seek the source of the calamity. As the truth gradually surfaces, Jocasta takes her own life and Oedipus blinds himself in guilt and despair upon realizing the full extent of his tragic actions. Ultimately, Oedipus leaves Thebes as an exile while haunted by the haunting realization that he has unwittingly fulfilled the very prophecies he had striven to prevent.
