When did Ron Weasley receive the Howler?

Ron Weasley received the Howler in Chapter 4, "The Keeper of the Keys" of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.

This happens after Ron and Harry fly an enchanted Ford Anglia to school and end up crashing it in the Forbidden Forest.
