When decorating your trailer dressing room, keep in mind the room's function first. Hang a mirror and bring in adequate lighting. Even though a makeup artist will touch up your makeup before a take, you'll want to look at yourself to make sure you don't have broccoli in your teeth or large smudges before making your appearance on the set.
Bring in a stool or bench for sitting and dressing. If you have room for a more comfortable and cushioned chair for lounging, then bring it in addition to, not instead of, a sturdy dressing stool or bench. Create a small dressing bench with storage out of sturdy MDF board, made into a box specified to your size, with a hinged lid on top. Cut a pad the size of the top lid out of memory foam, glue it to the lid, then cover the pad using sturdy fabric stapled to the underside of the lid.
Bring your favorite makeup in an easily accessible tackle-box case. Although it's unlikely that the makeup artist will need to borrow your personal collection unless there's a last-minute change, you'll want your personal makeup to apply before going out for a drink after the day's filming. Organize your makeup and pare it down to the essentials since a cluttered vanity area and not being able to find what you need creates stress.
Bring your MP3 player and a portable speaker. Design playlists that invigorate, inspire, relax and cheer you when working. Play music in your trailer dressing room to either enhance or improve your mood before shooting and to clear your mind after the day's work.
Frame photographs in a collage frame or use a digital slide show frame to keep positive memories in your room using a small amount of space. Fill your photo collage or slide show with photos of your closes family and friends, previous casts, and inspiring landscapes or objects. Add your favorite quote, calligraphed onto beautiful paper and digitally scanned or placed at the center of your photo collage.
Mount a temporary decorative hook on one wall and hang a basket containing reading material, breath strips (which dissolve quickly, so you won't have to swallow your mint or gum in case you're called), a deck of cards and any other necessities. Keep it in your trailer for delays, and bring it with you onto the set. If you're not using them, someone else might. Pack a variety of reading materials which can adapt to your moods, whether you want to study your craft or just relax with a mindless tabloid or romance.
