How to Get Into the J. Pervis Talent Agency

Joy Pervis, who runs the J. Pervis Talent Agency, was the head talent scout for The Osbrink Agency in Los Angeles until late 2009. Based in Atlanta, Georgia, the J. Pervis Talent Agency has an open submission policy for all potential talent, including voice over actors. While not required, some basic acting experience does help. The J. Instructions

    • 1

Get your headshots taken, if you have not already done so. The Actors Guide website (see Resources) has a directory of headshot photographers for the entire United States.

    • 2

Write out your acting, modeling or voice over resume, if you have experience. The Actors Pages website (see Resources) has tips on creating your acting resume, including proper formatting and layout. J. Pervis Talent Agency requires a resume for anyone age 19 or older. If you are in this age group and do not have any experience, you should first get experience before submitting or you will likely not get into the agency. You can get experience by looking for productions in your local area that need talent, often listed in local newspapers.

    • 3

Send in your headshots, resume and other required materials to the J. Pervis Talent Agency. The agency website (see Resources) has a submissions page that details what is required for each age group. For voice over talent, you must include a CD as your demo reel. If you want to get a response, include a self-addressed, stamped envelope. Responses typically take no more than 30 days.
