Why was the TV show Beauty and Beast discontinued after Season 3?

There was never a TV series called "Beauty and Beast" that aired for 3 seasons. The only TV show with that name was a TV series adaptation that ran for 2 seasons (1987-1989). Are you thinking of a different TV show or movie?
