What is a dual scene?

In television and film production, a dual scene is a technique where two scenes are shot that both take place concurrently in the story timeline but in very different physical sets of locations. Both shots are intercut in the final filmed product to make it seem both things are happening sequentially within one timeframe to the viewer of the final production.
