Who rates movies?

Movies are rated by film rating systems. In the United States, the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) is the main film rating system, and movies are rated based on their content. The MPAA ratings are as follows:

- G (General Audiences) - All ages admitted.

- PG (Parental Guidance Suggested) - Some material may not be suitable for children.

- PG-13 (Parents Strongly Cautioned) - Some material may be inappropriate for children under 13.

- R (Restricted) - Under 17 requires accompanying parent or adult guardian.

- NC-17 (No One 17 and Under Admitted) - No one under 17 admitted, regardless of parental consent.

In addition to the MPAA, other countries and jurisdictions also have their own film rating systems, which may have different categories and ratings.
