How to Do the Blue Steel Pose From Zoolander

Actor Ben Stiller brought the character of Derek Zoolander to life. As the reigning monarch of male modeling, Derek is famous for his distinct facial poses-all of which oddly look the same. If you want to do the "Blue Steel" pose from Zoolander, all you need are limber facial muscles and an attitude that would do a model proud.

Instructions

    • 1

Stand with your body at an angle to the camera. Turn your head to look over your shoulder, directly into the lens.

    • 2

Brace your shoulders so they have a stiff appearance. Flex your muscles, and muster up an "I take myself way too seriously" intensity.

    • 3

Limber up your facial muscles by puckering and un-puckering your lips. Stretch yourself further by moving your pursed lips up and down, then side to side several times. Repeat until your mouth feels limber enough to sustain "Blue Steel."

    • 4

Purse your lips slightly, leaving a small opening between them. Suck in your cheekbones and squint your eyes. Tilt your head low and stare down the camera as if it were tasty prey. "Blue Steel" is all about attitude.
